Keep search observations, profile interactions and authorized operational totals separate. Record the evidence needed for each next step.

A dermatology SEO report should help the practice choose its next action. It needs to distinguish being seen in search, reaching a useful page and accessing the appointment route. Combining those steps into one “new patients from SEO” number hides what was actually measured.
This reporting worksheet is for practice managers and marketing teams. It keeps medical and cosmetic page groups visible, gives every measure a source and turns observations into a reviewable decision. A specialized dermatology marketing agency can help translate these findings into a broader growth plan.
Record the website property, country, device grouping, date range and exact pages included. Separate branded searches from useful non-brand query groups where the available data allows it. Decide who supplies operational appointment information and what aggregation is permitted.
Use complete periods of the same length and keep the comparison method consistent. Note changes such as a new office, a clinician leaving, an appointment platform change or a page migration. These events affect interpretation even if they happened outside the SEO work.
| Source and measure | What it records | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Search Console impressions and clicks | Search visibility and clicks under the report's filters. | All local interactions, a new patient or an appointment outcome. |
| Search Console CTR and average position | Ratios and average search-position observations for the chosen data. | A fixed rank across the city or the quality of an appointment. |
| Business Profile calls | Clicks on the call button, as defined by Google. | A connected call, a qualified inquiry or a booking. |
| Business Profile website clicks | Clicks on the profile's website link. | An appointment request or an exclusively organic search total. |
| Approved website event | The specific interaction the reviewed implementation records. | A completed appointment when the event only measures a button or outbound link. |
| Practice operational report | The aggregate request or appointment status the practice supplies from its authorized system. | Reliable SEO attribution unless a separate, valid source method supports it. |
Use Google's definitions for Search Console performance and Business Profile interactions. Business Profile reporting can include organic results and Google Ads; it should not be renamed “organic appointments.” Some profile metrics are available only with particular booking providers.
Illustrative decision worksheet. The observations below are hypothetical. They contain no client figures and make no claim about the performance of a dermatology practice.
| Page group and observation | Question to investigate | Next check | Possible action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medical service pages gain impressions but clicks stay flat. | Did the query mix or search-result presentation change? | Review the same country/device filters, queries and page titles. | Improve a mismatched title or answer; keep the page if the new impressions are irrelevant. |
| A cosmetic page receives clicks, but the appointment route is unclear. | Can a visitor identify the office and next step? | Test the reviewed route on mobile and desktop. | Correct the label, office context or destination and record the change. |
| Profile call-button taps rise. | Is the correct office number displayed and answered during listed hours? | Practice manager verifies the number and operational process. | Correct a factual mismatch; do not report taps as connected calls. |
| One office's location page loses search clicks. | Did a move, profile change or indexation problem affect that page? | Review the change log and the page's current public state. | Fix an observed technical or factual issue before creating another location page. |
| Operational inquiries are available only as a practice-wide total. | Can the source legitimately isolate an organic-search contribution? | Ask the reporting owner to explain the source method. | Keep the total contextual and label attribution unavailable. |
For a real review, add the source, exact period, page list, observed value, comparison value, evidence link, decision owner and next review date. Leave unavailable values blank with a reason. Zero means a measured zero, not a missing connection.
A percentage change can look dramatic when its starting count is small. Show the underlying counts beside the rate. Avoid drawing a conclusion from a few days of incomplete data, and check whether a new page has had time to appear in the report.
Medical service pages, cosmetic service pages, clinician biographies and office pages do different jobs. Review them as named groups before combining them. A rise in preparation-guide visits may be useful, but it should not be presented as proof that more people are choosing the practice.
Search Console query rows do not expose every query. Filtering and grouping can also change the totals shown. Keep the export and its settings so the next reviewer can reproduce the comparison.
Do not send patient names, symptoms, diagnoses, appointment details or free-text form answers into marketing event parameters. Before adding tracking to a form, portal or scheduling route, have the practice's privacy and technical owners review what data would be collected and sent.
Google states that Analytics does not offer a Business Associate Agreement and restricts sending protected health information. Its Analytics and HIPAA guidance should inform that review. Adding consent language alone is not a determination that a proposed implementation is appropriate.
A route check can be useful without new tracking: record whether the button reaches the approved destination, whether the office is clear and whether an error appears. Keep any permitted operational totals separate from raw patient records. Reviewing the booking button and confirmation flow often benefits from dedicated healthcare web design support.
Close the review with the issue, evidence, proposed change, responsible person and acceptance test. The next report should say whether that change was delivered and what can be observed afterward. If the evidence is inconclusive, record the additional check needed rather than inventing a causal explanation.
