Private visibility audit

Alexander Langdon

Hi there, let’s look at your local visibility.

We ran the same search, a dental clinic, from 25 spots around Hadley in Barnet. Right at your own door you sit among the first three. At every other spot tested you fall far down the list, including the ones closest to you. Each dot is one of those spots, and Green means the practice is in the top three there.

So someone a street or two away, phone in hand, looking for a dentist nearby, may simply never come across you. Which raises the question: is that normal here?

The comparison worth looking at

One nearby practice is ahead at every spot

We ran it for Hadley Green Dental Practice too. It comes before you at all twenty-five spots, including the eight closest to your door, and further out as well.

Same search, a dental clinic, from the same twenty-five spots around you, so the two maps sit side by side.

They are among the first three at many more of those spots than you are. That is a local pattern worth learning from, not a guarantee. Which raises the next question: which searches lead to your website?

Each dot is a tested search location. Green means a top-three position for that search. The comparison concerns search visibility, not the quality of care.

Beyond the map

Four searches lead towards you, none on the first page

Four searches lead towards your website. Two use your name, like 'alexander dental'. Two do not, including one that names another practice in East Barnet. All four sit beyond the first page, on the tool's estimate.

  • Someone typing your name has to go past the first page of results before your website appears there.
  • The searches that do not use your name sit beyond the first page too, so your website is not being put in front of anyone early enough to pick up the phone.

Which leaves the next question: what do those two searches without your name actually land on?

The searches behind the numbers

The two searches that do not use your name

Two of the searches we found do not use your name. One is a close variant of it, and one names a neighbouring dental practice by its own area. Neither is about a treatment.

  • 'alexander's dental practice' shows up beyond the first page, and it lands on your contact page rather than on anything describing the dentistry you do.
  • 'east barnet dentist' names another practice, not yours; it also shows up beyond the first page, and it leads to your home page.

So none of these searches is for crowns, whitening or a dentist around Hadley. Someone with toothache, phone in hand, is looking for the treatment, and your service pages are the ones that would answer them.

Picture patients searching for your treatments around Hadley being able to find you.

Here is what already works for you, and what we would fix first.

None of this is about your care. It is about who sees your name first.

You stay with your patients. We carry this part.

Patients choose before they call: from the first names on the map, from the first results on Google. My team rebuilds what decides that, your Google listing and the pages a patient lands on, and keeps it up every month. Here is what happens if you reply.

Kept up month after month. You watch it in a shared table, with a regular call, and your own people kept in the loop.

Work we have already done

Not a promise. The work itself.

Four practices, four kinds of work. Delivered, not promised.

A dental practice near Paris

Every page about implants rebuilt, down to the questions patients ask before deciding. Kept up month after month.

An oral surgeon in Paris

The page patients land on before they book, her Google advertising, and a weekly letter to the colleagues who refer to her.

A doctor who ran clinics, doing this part for you

I'm a doctor. I used to run a group of clinics, and I know this part of the job is not why anyone chooses medicine. Today my team does it for practices like yours: the research, the writing and the set-up. You come in only where clinical knowledge matters.

Got a question?

A few things you may be wondering

The questions practitioners actually ask me after a page like this.

What would you do first for my practice?

We already have a website, an agency or someone who watches this. Do we start again?

Will this bring the right patients, or just more enquiries?

I searched myself and saw something different. Why?

What does it cost, and how long before something changes?

Do you work with the practice you compared me with?
