Private visibility audit

Dr Bhumika Ramesh Amlani

Dr Amlani, let’s look at your local visibility.

We ran the same search, a dental clinic, from 25 spots around Ethelbert Gardens in Ilford. You come up somewhere in the list at all of them, which is good to know. But you sit outside the first three at nearly every spot, including the ones closest to you, and further out it gets weaker still. Each dot is one spot; Green means you are in the top three there.

So someone a few streets away, phone in hand, looking for a dentist, may simply not come across you. Is that normal round here, or is more possible?

The comparison worth looking at

One nearby practice appears higher overall

Dental Health Centre Ilford Essex comes before you at 24 of the 25 spots we tested, close to you and farther out, so at nearly every spot a patient sees its name ahead of yours.

Same search, a dental clinic, from the same spots around you, so the two maps can be read side by side.

Yet it reaches the first three at only a few of those spots, barely more than you. So the first three are still open around here, which brings us to who actually lands on your website.

Each dot is a tested search location. Green means a top-three position for that search. The comparison concerns search visibility, not the quality of care.

Beyond the map

Nearly all your estimated visits come from your own name

Of the searches we looked at, nearly all the visits Google is estimated to send you come from people typing your name, like 'dentist gants hill'. Those searchers had your name already.

  • Someone typing your name already has it from somewhere. Someone searching for a dentist nearby does not, and that is a different person entirely.
  • None of the searches we found without your name reaches the first page, so a person who does not know you yet is unlikely to come across your pages that way.

So what is that person typing when they need a dentist in Ilford, and where do they end up?

The searches behind the numbers

The searches without your name are other practices

Five searches reach your site without your name. None of them asks for dentistry around Ethelbert Gardens. They are the names of other dental practices in Ilford and further afield, and all land on your home page.

  • 'simply teeth ilford' sits beyond the first page of results and leads to your home page. Someone typing that is looking for that practice, not for you.
  • 'dentist exchange ilford' also shows beyond the first page and leads to your home page, so the same holds: another name, not a treatment someone needs.

So nobody searching for a check-up, Invisalign or implants around Ethelbert Gardens arrives this way yet. Your six services each deserve their own page. Which of them would you most want new patients to find you for?

Picture patients searching for your treatments in Ilford being able to find you.

Here is what already works for you, and what we would fix first.

None of this is about your care. It is about who sees your name first.

You stay with your patients. We carry this part.

Patients choose before they call: from the first names on the map, from the first results on Google. My team rebuilds what decides that, your Google listing and the pages a patient lands on, and keeps it up every month. Here is what happens if you reply.

A doctor who ran clinics, doing this part for you

I'm a doctor. I used to run a group of clinics, and I know this part of the job is not why anyone chooses medicine. Today my team does it for practices like yours: the research, the writing and the set-up. You come in only where clinical knowledge matters.

Got a question?

A few things you may be wondering

The questions practitioners actually ask me after a page like this.

What would you do first for my practice?

We already have a website, an agency or someone who watches this. Do we start again?

Will this bring the right patients, or just more enquiries?

I searched myself and saw something different. Why?

What does it cost, and how long before something changes?

Do you work with the practice you compared me with?
