Private visibility audit

Amit Rai

Hi Amit, let’s look at your local visibility.

We ran the same search, a dentist, from 25 spots around Belmont Rd in Uxbridge. At the spot on your own street you come first, and at a couple of nearby spots you are in the top three. Across most of the other spots you sit further down the list. Each dot is one of those spots; Green means the practice is in the top three there.

So someone right by you can find you easily. A little farther out, with a phone in hand, they may simply never come across you. What does a nearby practice get from the same search?

The comparison worth looking at

One nearby practice comes before you at 24 of the 25 spots

Running the same search, mydentist, High Street, Uxbridge comes before you at 24 of the 25 spots we tested, close to Belmont Rd and farther out alike.

Same search, a dentist, from the same spots around you, so the two maps sit side by side.

They are among the first three at 14 of the 25 spots, against 3 for you, so that is the name a patient sees in most parts of the area. Their map shows what is reachable here. Your website is the next question.

Each dot is a tested search location. Green means a top-three position for that search. The comparison concerns search visibility, not the quality of care.

Beyond the map

None of the searches in these lists uses your name

All five searches we looked at reach your site without your name, like 'nhs dentists uxbridge'. That is only part of the picture, and the visit figures are estimates.

  • A search for an emergency dentist in Uxbridge puts you among the first results, so your pages are there for someone in pain who does not know the name of a practice yet.
  • Your name may well be typed too; these five lists simply do not include it. What they do show is plain requests for a dentist, all landing on your home page.

So which of those searches brings the most people to you, and where do they end up once they arrive?

The searches behind the numbers

Two searches describe a need, not your name

Not every search carries your name. A few are plain requests from people in Uxbridge looking for NHS dentistry, or for a dentist who can see them urgently.

  • 'nhs dentists uxbridge' puts you among the first results, and that search leads to your home page.
  • 'emergency dentist uxbridge' also shows you among the first results, and again it is your home page it leads to.

Both are dentistry, your own field, and both are worth building on. Someone in pain or looking for an NHS place arrives on a general home page rather than a page about that treatment. Which raises the question of what to strengthen first.

Picture patients searching for your treatments in Uxbridge being able to find you.

Here is what already works for you, and what we would fix first.

None of this is about your care. It is about who sees your name first.

You stay with your patients. We carry this part.

Patients choose before they call: from the first names on the map, from the first results on Google. My team rebuilds what decides that, your Google listing and the pages a patient lands on, and keeps it up every month. Here is what happens if you reply.

A doctor who ran clinics, doing this part for you

I'm a doctor. I used to run a group of clinics, and I know this part of the job is not why anyone chooses medicine. Today my team does it for practices like yours: the research, the writing and the set-up. You come in only where clinical knowledge matters.

Got a question?

A few things you may be wondering

The questions practitioners actually ask me after a page like this.

What would you do first for my practice?

We already have a website, an agency or someone who watches this. Do we start again?

Will this bring the right patients, or just more enquiries?

I searched myself and saw something different. Why?

What does it cost, and how long before something changes?

Do you work with the practice you compared me with?
