Private visibility audit

Rumit Desai

Dr Desai, let’s look at your local visibility.

We ran the same search, a dental clinic, from 25 spots around Belmont Park in London. Close to your door you show up near the top, and at your own address nothing sits above you. Further out, you slip well down the list at most of the spots we tested. Each dot is one of those spots; Green means you are in the top three there.

So someone with toothache a few streets further out may scroll past three other names before yours. Which raises a fair question: what does a strong map here actually look like?

The comparison worth looking at

One nearby practice comes before you at more spots

Across the 25 spots we tested, Inspire Dental Lewisham comes before you at 17 of them and you come before it at the other 8, though nothing ranks above you at your own door.

Same search, a dental clinic, from the same spots around you, so the two maps can be read side by side.

Yet in the first three, where patients actually see a name, the two of you sit about level: you at 5 of the 25 spots, it at 4. Being seen more widely is winnable here. Which raises who reaches your website.

Each dot is a tested search location. Green means a top-three position for that search. The comparison concerns search visibility, not the quality of care.

Beyond the map

Both kinds of patient reach your website

At least about half the estimated visits from search come from people typing your name, like 'belmont park dental care'. The rest come through other searches. Both kinds of search lead to your site.

  • Someone typing your name already knows you and wants your address or a booking. Someone searching for a treatment does not, and your page has to earn the click.
  • Your site does show on the first page for treatment searches, and among the first results for 'teeth whitening lewisham' and 'emergency dentist lewisham'. That is reach to people who are not looking for you by name.

So which of those treatment searches actually lead people to you, and where do they land once they arrive?

The searches behind the numbers

Treatment searches lead people who don't know you yet

Some of the searches reaching your site come from people who do not know you yet. They are looking for treatments: dental implants, teeth whitening, emergency care, mouthguards.

  • Someone searching 'dental implants and' finds you low on the first page, below the results most people click, and lands on your page about why have dental implants.
  • Someone searching 'emergency dentist lewisham' finds you among the first results, and lands on your emergency dental page.

Implants are the heart of your practice, and among the searches that don't use your name that is the one bringing the most estimated visits, yet it sits low on the first page. Teeth whitening and emergency care already sit higher. So what would we fix first?

Picture patients searching for your treatments around Blackheath being able to find you.

Here is what already works for you, and what we would fix first.

None of this is about your care. It is about who sees your name first.

You stay with your patients. We carry this part.

Patients choose before they call: from the first names on the map, from the first results on Google. My team rebuilds what decides that, your Google listing and the pages a patient lands on, and keeps it up every month. Here is what happens if you reply.

Got a question?

A few things you may be wondering

The questions practitioners actually ask me after a page like this.

What would you do first for my practice?

We already have a website, an agency or someone who watches this. Do we start again?

Will this bring the right patients, or just more enquiries?

I searched myself and saw something different. Why?

What does it cost, and how long before something changes?

Do you work with the practice you compared me with?
